Jeppes), b. abt 1781, NJ 2. Catherine^7 Gibson, b. abt 1822, NY 3. John^7 W. Gibson, b. abt 1824, NY 4. Mary^7 Gibson, b. abt 1831, NY Mary^6 Van Wickle (Evert^5, Nicasius^4, Simon^3, Evert^2, Jentie^1 Jeppes), was b. abt 1781, NJ. She married John Gibson (b. abt 1770, Edinburgh, Scotland) who came to America in 1786 and was in Geneva, NY just prior to coming to Angelica in 1801. John was a millwright and superintended the building of the first grist mill in Belmont, NY and was for a long time a clerk for Philip Church. He kept an early hotel at Angelica and was the first sheriff of Allegany County. They had six children. John Gibson accompanied Capt Philip Church, Major Moses Van Campen, John Lewis, and Stephen Price on an exploration of the Church Tract in 1802. The first store in Allegany County, owned by Philip Church was managed by John Gibson. John Gibson bought 20 acres of land in 1802 bounded north by Main Street (Angelica) and West by Olean Street -- for $1 an acre. In 1808 Moses Van Campen, John Gibson and Wm Higgins were appointed commissioners to superintend construction of the courthouse and jail in Angelica, NY. 1820

lists John, age 60-70, a female age 40 to 50 (Mary?), one boy age 5 to 10 (John
W.?), two girls ages 5 to 10 (Catherine and Mary?) and one girl age 10 to 15
(Jane?). the 1840 Federal Census for Angelica lists John age 70 to 80, one
female, 60 to 70 (Mary?), one boy 15 to 20 (John W.), two girls 15 to 20
(Catherine and Mary?) and one female, 20 to 30 (Jane?) 1850
